9 Hottest On-Screen Kisses Of Bollywood
Here's the latest update from the world of Bollywood. We bet you wouldn't want to miss this. Read on for details... That is, before the Censor Board went all holier-than-thou

'We are Indians, we don't kiss' - is that the mantra of the Censor Board? A few days ago, the CBFC went snip-happy on Ranbir Kapoor-Deepika Padukone's kiss in Tamasha. Now, even James Bond hasn't escaped their wrath - the CBFC has reduced two kisses in Spectre to a blink-and-miss sequence. Where are we headed really?
Especially since Bollywood, over the years, has never shied away from lip-locks. In fact, if you revisit the 70s and 80s, you'll notice that the smooches then were much bolder.
Take a look at these passionate kissing sequences and you'll realise the difference.
1. Aamir Khan-Karisma Kapoor (Raja Hindustani, 1996)

Think Raja Hindustani and the first thing that comes to your mind is 'the kiss'. And we call it 'the kiss' because let's face it, whenever we talk of any on-screen lip-lock, the first question is: Is it as steamy as the Aamir-Karisma kiss in Raja Hindustani?
We're sure you agree that it's one of the most (if not the most) passionate on-screen kisses.
Not surprisingly, their liplock had become the talk of the town. Guess what, it was the longest kiss Bollywood had seen at the time and surprisingly, it was passed without any cut (Hats off to Shakti Samanta who was the Chairperson of Censor Board then!)
2. Shashi Kapoor-Zeenat Aman (Satyam Shivam Sundaram, 1978)

You thought Zeenat Aman's attire in Satyam Shivam Sundaram was bold for those times? Well, the actress even shared two passionate kisses with Shashi Kapoor in the film. And then came the usual 'haw' and 'oh my God, really'....the lip-locks created a huge controversy.
Former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and actor MG Ramachandran even claimed that the scene was an insult to Indian cinema (Umm...Why? Oh, yeah! Because we Indians don't kiss, right?)
3. Vinod Khanna-Madhuri Dixit (Dayavan, 1988)

The otherwise image-conscious Madhuri Dixit turned rather bold in this 1988 hit. The actress set the temperatures soaring with this intense kiss with Vinod Khanna. It still remains one of the most talked-about smooches of Hindi cinema.
Interestingly, Madhuri incorporated a no-kissing clause in her contract after puckering up in this film and Dil. A case of shutting the stable door after the horse has bolted!
4. Rajeev Kapoor-Mandakini (Ram Teri Ganga Maili, 1985)

We know what you're thinking - the waterfall sequence, the breastfeeding sequence...and we bet you also remember the wedding night sequence.
No one shot intimate sequences as beautifully as Raj Kapoor. And the filmmaker skilfully captured the nervousness and excitement of the first kiss in this sequence with Rajeev Kapoor and Mandakini. And don't miss, the 'sanskaari ladki' that our Ganga was, she kissed only on the wedding night - never mind the waterfall sequence before that!
5. Kamal Haasan-Rani Mukerji (Hey Ram, 2000)

Hey Ram's kissing sequence was to the 2000s, what Satyam Shivam Sundaram's intimate scene was to the 1970s. Kamal Haasan and the then-newcomer Rani Mukerji, who played a married couple in the period drama, shared a kiss that was seriously too hot to handle. Scintillating, sizzling, wild...call it what you want, it ticked all the boxes.
6. Emraan Hashmi-Mallika Sherawat (Murder, 2004)

How can we talk about kisses and not talk about Mallika and 'Bollywood's serial kisser' Emraan Hashmi? The two set the screen on fire with their numerous passionate sequences in Murder, which revolved around a wife having an illegitimate affair with her former flame.
And yes, this 'can't-hold-it-anymore' kiss was as wild as it gets.
Before this, of course, Mallika had anyway made headlines with her 17 kisses with Himanshu Malik in Khwahish.
7. Hrithik Roshan-Aishwarya Rai (Dhoom 2, 2006)

What do you get when you have the two most gorgeous people of Bollywood romancing each other on screen? A scintillating kiss! Hrithik and Aishwarya scorched the screen with their passionate liplock in the thriller. It shocked many - after all, the beauty had maintained an ice maiden image until then.
8. Arjun Kapoor-Parineeti Chopra (Ishaqzaade, 2012)

A kiss is a kiss is a kiss. And Parineeti is not going to shy away from it. The actress shed her inhibitions in her first film as lead actress - Ishaqzaade - and shot for a steamy lovemaking scene with Arjun Kapoor.
The love story had a 2-minute lovemaking sequence and the couple's sizzling lip-lock became a talking point.
9. Varun Dhawan- Alia Bhatt (Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania, 2014)

Following in the footsteps of her uncle Emraan Hashmi is Alia Bhatt, who has kissed in almost every film. The young actress shared a sensuous smooch with Varun Dhawan in the Karan Johar production.
And this one hangs in the balance....
Ranbir Kapoor-Deepika Padukone (Tamasha, 2015)

The two had shot for a steamy kiss in the Imtiaz Ali film - one that was believed to be the longest on-screen liplock. The Censor Board played spoilsport and have cut down the sequence drastically. The Tamasha team says that the smooch has lost its appeal now (Ranbir-Deepika kiss has no charm now, says Team Tamasha, November 15). Will the RK-Dippy kiss be as magical as the above mentioned smooches, after the Censor Board has run its scissors all over it? Let's wait and watch.
